Another seriously good EP of no messing, full on and aggressive
metal from UK six piece Cinders Fall. ItÆs really great to hear they
havenÆt compromised their sound at all since their last EP æThe
Bridge BetweenÆ, theyÆre still all about the noise with no hint of
any lightweight crooning or lapses into cheesy screamo nonsense,
even on the final track æThe ReckoningÆ which brings in a more
melodic sound. This new batch of tracks again mixes up thrash drums,
intense and complex riffs and death metal style vocals to produce
something seriously heavy but with hooks and melodic undertones.
Technically they never fail to impress, with those trademark
inventive and tuneful guitars adding so much to each powerhouse
tune, itÆs shocking they arenÆt every metal fanÆs favourite band…A
sure fire cure for any cravings you may have for a dose of æproperÆ

Those Who Lie Beneath - An Awakening (2009)

Inspired by Scandinavian and modern American death metal, TWLB surely will impress even the most fickle heavy music fan. Their amazing guitar work, razor sharp drumming and super brutal vocals make them stand out among the plethora of other hard bands. These guys are the real deal. For fans of Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder and Job For A Cowboy.

Their smashing debut entitled, “An Awakening” uses a devastating blast of death metal that is pure “Shock and awe”.

Uzi – Madhouse (2009)

Uzi - Madhouse (2009)

In 2009, Eonian Records has been uncovering some classic metal acts that never got their due.  Chicago’s Uzi is another band that showed a lot of potential, but by the time they relocated to L.A., the hair metal scene was dead.  If this band would  have made the move five years earlier, they could have made their mark on the music scene.  There a quite a few cool rockers on Madhouse that are worth checking out.

The CD opens up with the title track “Madhouse”.  This sleazy rocker had me sold on the first listen.  This tune has a lot of energy that really sets the stage well for the rest of the album.

“American Dream” is a short little rocker, clocking in just shy of three minutes.  It does a good job at keeping the pace going on the CD.

“Away From My Heart” is a power ballad that should have generated a hit for the band.  While it doesn’t break any new ground, it is easily as good as a lot of the stuff that was being released in the late eighties and early nineties.

“Rocker” reminds of classic Skid Row, while the tune “Raise Hell”  is more like a Def Leppard tune.  Both tunes are very cool!

“For the Money” is a kick ass, foot-stomper that has it all:  cowbell, horns and some excellent guitar noodling.  This is as good as any closing song that I have heard all year.

It doesn’t detract from the experience too much, as the songs are pretty good.

There are far too many cool bands out there that never got their due.   Madhouse is a cool retrospective on a band that should have been huge.  I am grateful for Eonian Records, as they have uncovered another gem with Uzi’s Madhouse.

Track Listing:

1. Madhouse
2. American Dream
3. Mutha’s Knockin
4. Rocker
5. Do What I Do
6. Away From My Heart
7. Raise Hell
8. From the Gutter
9. Wreckerd Man
10. For the Money

REL.NOTES

“Aggression to the core is the war cry of Infernal Wrath.
In 2005, the band’s members come together with a one-point manifesto.
The point is to play what they want to. What they want to play is brutal, melodic old school, ambient, spiritual metal.
The name reflects their musical attitude.
Infernal Wrath is an act of will by its members.
Their lyrical influences range from apocalyptic texts across world scripture, and their music would be Ambient Spiritual Metal.
Gigging their way through the underground rock circuit through the country, the band hijacks amygdales in major festivals in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and elsewhere.
Instant crowd favourites and moshpit messiahs, Infernal Wrath leave destruction and big-voiced, exquisitely-crafted music wafting in their wake wherever they go.
Infernal Wrath is also working on their Acoustic Instrumental Set with Visuals.
Their album “Inside of Me” has been launched in August 2009 with 9 Ambient/Heavy cyclic tracks on Counter Culture Records mastered at Yash Raj Studios and
recorded at Grey Studios Delhi.

Infernal Wrath is:
Afaque (Vocals)
Pradeep (Guitars)
Amnish(Guitars)
Vian (Bass)
Sushant (Keys,Samplers)
JP (drums)

Album Concept:

The band speaks about the path of self realization that is set to a backdrop of the events preceding the Apocalypse which has been foretold in various scriptures
which form the basis of various religions & sects all across the globe. As a part of the events that will take place, one of the key figures is that of the ‘messiah’.
This expected chosen one is given many different names by various religions of the world. Through the journey of the album,
one will realize that the ‘messiah’ is not some third person but we are our own messiah. In today’s time,
the foreign & domestic policies that are being made, the present conflicts that are being pursued in our present geo-political scenario by the politicians &
the priestly class to pursue their own selfish agendas, use these scriptures to indoctrinate the masses to demand those ‘Armageddon’ like situation to take place,
claming that the ‘messiah’ will appear & their salvation is near. So, in the light of the present scenario, we, as a band,
want to show a completely different perspective using the very same texts so that individuals can understand their true goal, the one of self-realization.”

Review: Metalcrypt (4.75/5)

The name of this band had actually kept me from getting any of their albums until now. I know, I know. I should know better, but it just didn’t sound like my kind of band. Well here is my mea culpa, because this is one of the best bands I have heard in years. I am unilaterally and completely impressed.

Tad Morose play power metal, but not what you’re thinking. There is no trace of the usual Italian-style crapola here. This is the real stuff: chugging, smokin’ riffs, time changes and all-around impressive songwriting, plus the soaring voice and melodies of frontman/lyricist Urban Breed. If comparisons must be drawn, I would say Tad Morose sound a good bit like Solitude Aeternus – only better and more uptempo. But truthfully I have never heard any other band that sounds quite like them. The songs here are both heavy and catchy, memorable after one listen. After just one spin I could look at the tracklist and have parts of the songs flash instantly into my head, and that does not happen to me often. This CD just gets cooler with every trip through, and even though I liked the album on first listen, after just a few days I keep liking it more with every listen. Highly addictive stuff.

The packaging is nice, with cool cover art by the multitalented Urban Breed. The lyrics are really a highlight here, as they are extremely cool. Dark, poetic and often just strange. I have never read lyrics quite like them, except maybe for the stuff John Arch used to write back in the day. (And from me, that is high praise)

This is one of those bands whose sound is very very hard to accurately describe. They’re just good, and their groovy riffs and haunting vocal melodies keep me coming back for more. I cannot believe a band this good got a CM contract, and I also cannot believe it took me this long to find them. Ignore the odd name, ignore any misgivings you might have. If you like power metal at all, buy this album.
